Collected Words
These works begin with place.
Each image draws from real elements of the town—streets, buildings, public spaces—but moves beyond documentation. Through subtle shifts in tone and detail, the scenes are reinterpreted to reflect how they are experienced rather than how they appear.
In Setúbal, that shift leans toward the atmospheric—
light becomes more expressive, and public art begins to feel present, almost alive. Statues and figures move from background into quiet participation, shaping a more imagined version of the town without leaving it behind.
In Shepherdstown, the transformation is different.
The scenes remain grounded in the everyday, but human interaction becomes the focus—moments rendered in a painterly, Norman Rockwell–inspired style, where gesture and expression carry a sense of
familiarity and memory.
From these interpretations, a range of objects emerges.
Ceramic coaster sets, greeting cards, and custom pieces—including canvas prints and murals—extend the images into physical form, allowing them to exist beyond the page.
Each piece holds onto its origin in place,
while carrying forward the impression that shaped it.
